PrivatBank and Visa payment system announced the launch of FacePay24 biometric payment system in Ukraine, which will operate in the retail network. The first Ukrainian outlets where buyers can pay for products with “face” are four stores of the national HOP HEY network in Dnipro.

As PrivatBank Chairman of the Board Petr Krumhanzl announced during PrivatBank Innovation Day in Dnipro, the launch of this service, which was considered fantastic several years ago, was made possible by the integration of modern payment methods of Visa, technologies from Amazon Web Services with the updated Privat Bank mobile application Privat24. Keen participation in the project of the most innovative retail networks in Ukraine allowed to launch FacePay one of the first in Europe.

"Most of you probably don't even have a wallet with you now, because all the cards are in your smartphone. We are moving forward today and launching technology that even lets you forget your phone at home, ”said Peter Krumhansl. - The joint project of PrivatBank and Visa became the first in Ukraine to launch biometric payment for retail purchases. With the updated Privat24 platform, this opportunity is available to all PrivatBank clients and any offline and online retailer. ”

To use the face-to-face payment service, you must install the updated Privat24 app on your smartphone and activate FacePay24 payment. Then, following the tips of the program, you need to take three Selfies from different angles and attach a Visa bank card to your face. You can then pay for your purchases by looking at the tablet's special camera near the cash desk.

«Now it is not necessary to carry with it neither a payment card nor a smartphone, because it will be enough of a smile of the client to pay for the goods in the first FacePay shops of our network, which operate in the largest residential areas of the Dnieper. We continue to amaze customers, make shopping more convenient with innovations, and we are glad to be the pioneers of introducing this technology in Ukraine, ”commented the launch of the project by HOP HEY CEO Dmitry Molchanov.

"Our main mission is to make payments as convenient, simple and secure as possible. In terms of guaranteeing the security of non-cash payments, biometrics will become one of the common identification tools for cardholders and will largely determine the further development of non-cash payments. And those banks and retailers that can offer consumers the best contactless payment experience are more likely to expand their customer base and ensure consumer loyalty, ”adds Svetlana Chirva, Visa's regional manager in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova:

By the way, FacePay24 uses one of the world's leading automatic face recognition - Amazon Rekognition technology, and enables scaling of this service to almost to any outlet. Amazon Rekognition is based on secure, reliable, and proven deep learning technology developed by Amazon's computer vision experts to analyze billions of images and videos every day.
