Frequently Asked Questions on interest accrual

In what case do I have to pay interest for using credit funds on Universal Card?

If you do not repay the full amount of credit funds used in the previous month by the 25th day of the current month, the grace period does not apply, so the interest is accrued on the entire amount of your debt, starting from the date you began to use credit funds. The grace period will not be applied to any new expenditures until the debt is repaid in full.

Example: You have spent 1000 UAH of credit funds making purchases in a store using your Universal Card on January 3 and went on to spend 500 UAH on February 5. On February 20, you have put 100 UAH on your card. The grace period cannot be applied in this case, so interest is accrued on the entire amount of your debt from the date you started spending credit funds.

graf

What is the interest rate accrued on debt on a Universal Card?

The interest rate for using credit funds beyond the grace period is very favorable, you only have to pay 3,5% (after 01.08.2020) per month.

What formula is used for interest calculation on Universal Card?

The interest is calculated for each calendar day of using credit funds according to the following formula:

debt amount * days of using credit funds * 3,5% * 12 / 365

where:
• 365 is a constant value (the number of days in a year);
• 3,5% is a constant value (the monthly interest rate according to bank tariffs);
• 12 is a constant value (the number of months in a year).

Separate calculation is made for each transaction, resulting in a change of total debt amount. The debiting of interest takes place on the 1st day of the month following the month of grace period expiration. The result of calculating is rounded to two decimal digits.

Example: As of January 1, you had no debt on your Universal Card. You have spent 1000 UAH of credit funds making purchases in a store using your Universal Card on January 3 and went on to spend 500 UAH on February 5. On February 20, you have put 100 UAH on your card.
